Our Story

Ever since my mother and I read The Hobbit together, swapping theories, quoting our favorite lines, and sharing inside jokes no one else understood, I’ve dreamed of a family book club. Years later, my adult children and I finally started one, and we’ve loved it. But we never tackled the classics together across the generations. I knew I’d never read every book my mother read, and even if I did, I’d never know who she was when she first turned those pages. We all change. You never step into the same river twice.

But open a book your grandfather once read, find his highlights, his notes in the margins…

That’s why I made Comfortable Classics: affordable, sturdy editions meant to be marked up, kept, and handed down.

Classics meant to be kept, studied, and handed down.

Comfortable Classics is an imprint of public-domain classics: novels, epics, plays, fairy tales, philosophy, science, and history.

The idea behind it is a literary legacy. These are books worth keeping, reading closely, and handing down, so a shelf of them becomes a personal library.

Every volume shares one series design, and only the title lettering changes to suit the book.

The books are available on Amazon. This site doesn't sell anything. Each book links directly to its Comfortable Classics edition on Amazon, so you'll always find the right one.
